Privacy policy & support

finir is a habit tracker provided by Minjae Lee. This policy explains how the mobile app handles information, including optional online features, advertising, analytics and support.

Habit records on your device

Habit names, schedules, goals, completion records, notes, routines, reflections and app preferences are stored on your device. Basic habit tracking works without signing into an account. Backups you export and recaps you share go to the location or app you choose. Your device's backup settings may also copy local app data to Apple or Google services.

Optional encrypted device sync

If you turn on device sync, finir encrypts the supported habit data on your device before uploading it to our server. The server stores encrypted data, an authentication hash, revision numbers and creation or update times. Your recovery key and unencrypted habit content are not sent to our server as part of sync. A person with your recovery key can access and decrypt this data, so keep it private; we cannot recover a lost key for you.

You can disconnect a device without deleting the server copy, or use Delete cloud data in the device sync screen to remove the active encrypted copy. A hash marking the deleted vault remains to prevent delayed requests from recreating it. Deleting cloud data does not delete records already stored on your devices or backups you have exported.

App usage and diagnostics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and our own service to understand usage and improve reliability. This can include app and installation identifiers, session identifiers, app version, operating system, language, screen views, feature interactions, advertising events and purchase or restore events. Purchase analytics may include the product, price, currency and a hashed transaction identifier.

Our service creates a pseudonymous account identifier and receives daily completed and planned habit counts, rest-day status, habit count, onboarding status, notification setting and ad-removal status. Habit names and notes are excluded from these usage summaries and analytics events. This usage collection is separate from optional encrypted device sync.

For troubleshooting, we receive error messages, stack traces, session information and device or app context. Network services also process IP addresses to deliver requests, protect the service and diagnose failures. These identifiers are not your real name, but may still distinguish your app installation or account.

Advertising and purchases

finir uses Google AdMob to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, app interactions, and diagnostic or performance data for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention, subject to applicable permissions and privacy choices. The app does not request precise GPS location.

Ad removal is an optional one-time purchase processed by Apple or Google. We receive purchase and entitlement information, but do not receive your payment card or bank details. Removing ads does not by itself disable app usage analytics or optional online features.

Support and notifications

If you send feedback, we receive the message, an email address if you choose to provide one, and associated account and device context. We use this to investigate and reply. Support messages and replies may be stored on our server and delivered through email services. Do not include recovery keys or other secrets in feedback.

Habit reminders are scheduled on your device. For support replies, Firebase Cloud Messaging may process an app installation or push notification token and device information; our service associates the token with your pseudonymous account. You can manage notification permissions in your device settings.

Information is processed by our hosting and communication services and the providers used for the features above. Their handling of data is also described in these policies:

Retention, deletion and your choices

Local data remains until you remove it in the app, clear app storage or uninstall the app, subject to your device's backup behavior. Exported files and shared recaps must be removed from the places where you saved or shared them.

Server-side usage, diagnostics and support records are retained for operating the service, responding to support requests, investigating reliability or security issues, and meeting applicable obligations. Uninstalling the app or disconnecting sync does not automatically delete server records. Operational backups may retain earlier copies until those backups are replaced or removed.

To request access to or deletion of information held by us, contact mmj9808@gmail.com or use the in-app feedback form. Tell us that your request concerns finir and which information you want handled. We may need additional information to locate and verify the relevant records. Do not send your sync recovery key. Use the device sync screen to delete your encrypted cloud data while you still have access to its key.

You can choose whether to use sync, send support messages or share files, and manage notification and advertising permissions in your device settings. Where an advertising privacy form is presented, follow its options to manage your choices. Requests concerning information controlled independently by Apple or Google can also be directed to those providers.

Security and children

We use HTTPS for app-server communication and encryption for optional device sync. No storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security. Protect your device, backup files and recovery key. finir is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
